Why prepare for JFT-Basic now?

The upcoming Employment for Skill Development program and limited JLPT availability make planning ahead essential.

A2 is the milestone under Employment for Skill Development

Under the Employment for Skill Development (育成就労) program starting in April 2027, workers must pass an A1-or-higher test or complete at least 100 hours of qualifying A1 training before starting work. A2-level Japanese is generally required to move on to Specified Skilled Worker (i). Employers must offer at least 100 hours of A2-targeted training during the program; prior passage of an A2-level test can exempt a worker from this training.

JLPT: not always available when you need it

In Japan, JLPT is a paper-based test held twice a year. Registration for N3, N4 and N5 in the December 2026 sitting closed early on August 27. Candidates need to plan ahead around available test sites and registration periods.

JFT-Basic runs monthly, with a different test experience

JFT-Basic is a computer-based test (CBT) held roughly every month. Unlike a paper JLPT, it has its own screen controls and audio playback limits. Getting used to the format in advance helps candidates prepare.

Frequently asked questions

Q.Does this JFT mock test follow the real JFT-Basic format?
Yes. Our JFT mock exam uses the same four sections (Script and Vocabulary, Conversation and Expression, Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension) with 50 questions in 60 minutes, and reproduces the feel of the real screen. Candidates take it in a PC browser. In the real test, listening audio plays at most twice and listening questions cannot be revisited. In the other sections, candidates can review answers within the section, but cannot return to a section after moving on. Note that this is not the official JFT-Basic examination; scores and levels are estimates produced by HandsOn AI.
Q.When and how do candidates see their results?
Immediately after finishing, the screen shows the total score (10–250), the estimated level (A1 / A2.1 / A2.2), accuracy by section, and feedback. The level thresholds are A1 at 145 points, A2.1 at 175, and A2.2 (A2) at 200.
Q.Which languages are supported?
The app interface and the “Your Language” prompts are available in 19 languages, including English, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Burmese, Nepali, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Hindi, Khmer, Sinhala, and Bengali.
Q.How many times a day can a candidate take it?
Once a day. The monthly unlimited plan allows daily practice for a month, with progress recorded in the test history.
Q.Does it help with the Japanese requirements of the Employment for Skill Development program?
Yes. Before starting work, the program requires passage of an A1-or-higher test or at least 100 hours of qualifying A1 training. A2-level Japanese is generally required to move on to Specified Skilled Worker (i). The mock exam’s three-level result (A1 / A2.1 / A2.2) lets you check regularly how far each worker is from A2.
Q.Can Supervising Organizations, Registered Support Organizations, and language schools use it?
Yes. The admin panel lets you manage candidates by hiring company or class, review test history and results, and export CSVs — whether you are a Supervising Organization or cooperative overseeing trainees across several hiring companies, a Registered Support Organization building it into Specified Skilled Worker support, or a Japanese Language School using it in class.
Q.How is it priced?
Test tickets are USD 2.50 per test (a minimum purchase quantity applies). A monthly unlimited plan is available for organizations — contact us for a quote. See the pricing page for details.
